Gina Startup’s works are a collage of ideas, thoughts, moods, memories, technology, textures, and colors. She is inspired by other artists, places, and random images. Her works are colorful combinations of traditional media and digital. She combines both worlds in Photoshop as one of her main tools. She also benefits from other software such as Illustrator, Corel Painter, and C4D for her 3D elements. For traditional media, she uses watercolors, ink, and pencil sketches. She constantly evolves and adapts to new media, software, and graphic trends but always keeps it true to herself. She is a cancer survivor and experienced a number of tragedies in life and creating is a way to escape unpleasant memories for her. Gina does not feel like she needs to vent ugliness through disturbing imagery. She agrees with Renoir’s quote ‘Why shouldn’t art be pretty? There are enough unpleasant things in the world wholeheartedly. She hopes that her art & photography are cheerful, pleasant and colorful.
