Arabic 6-Fold Hexagram Pattern

Deviating from traditional pattern repetition and symmetry this illustration bounces off the interplay between sub-grid construction lines and the final highlighted composition.

Deliberately leaving sections open to break up the symmetry and expose the internal geometry provides a sense of depth, gives the drawing space to breathe, and prevents it from appearing static.

A large Six-Pointed Star, or Hexagram, emerges to the foreground decorated with an intricate 6-fold mosaic pattern. The detail, precision, black on white contrast, and use of line weight creates a contemporary look that infuses a unique expression to a traditional Arabic pattern.

Completely hand-drawn using ruler and compass construction methods, each line: is diligently calculated, dedicates purpose, is meticulously inked from start to finish with white ink on black paper, and contributes to the overall dynamic and balance of the final composition.

Anthony Joseph Bartoletti is a young artist who specializes in analog geometric art. He began his artistic journey shortly before the 2020 Covid-19 pandemic, using art as a form of self-therapy and meditation during isolation. His work combines strict Euclidean geometry, old-school and modern perspective drawing principles, and analytical pattern and design concepts. His art showcases a seamless blend of two- and three-dimensional space, revealing coherence and structure within the chaos. Based in Northeastern Pennsylvania, A.J. balances his art with family and music, serving as a guitar instructor and finding deep fulfillment in both teaching and creating.
