Barbara Pastorino

BarbaraI was born in Varallo, an artistic town on the Italian Alps. Now she lives and works in Milan.She paints abstract works inspired by nature and travel. Travel includes physical space as well as inner reality. The centre of her research includes trips into the unconscious, remote or underwater landscapes and literary works (primarily mythological).
Her art is often characterized by strong, bold colours. Shapes are like glimpses into a mirage or a dream. She tries to express an emotion, mood or feeling.
Her starting point is an idea, memory or suggestion. Her wish is that observers of her work use their imagination to go beyond the boundaries of the painting itself.
