Born in 1968, Laurent Dorchin is a French self-taught painter, situating himself in the Art Brut movement.
It was at the age of 17 during a vernissage of the expressionist painter Ramon Grimalt that Dorchin discovered the world of painting and became passionate about the medium.
Fascinated by Grimault’s raw art, he began to paint by exploring different media such as wood and canvas.
Celebrating uninhibited art, Laurent Dorchin’s work invites his audience on a journey where reality and imagination are intimately linked. He practices a happy and spontaneous art and expresses his joy, his emotions and his impulses through dynamic characters. The artist pays particular attention to the balance between matter, color and shapes, and places humor and laughter at the center of his work.
Dorchin’s work has earned him many exhibitions in France and abroad in countries like Germar Belgium, Switzerland, the Netherlands, the United States and China.
