Taher Jaoui

Taher Jaoui is a Tunisian artist who is currently working in Spain. His works have been part of collections all around the world. He started his work by making collages from old photographs and later was Influenced by Graffiti Art, Street Art, African Primitive Art, cartoons, as well as the philosophy and attitude of Abstract Expressionism. He creates captivating and labor-intensive work with the idea of continuing the legacy of the abstract expressionism movement from the 50s and 60s. Taher creates his works following a creative process based upon his intuition and unconscious. His works are rich assemblages of layered forms, vibrant colors, expressive gestures, and mathematics signs and formulas Applied on canvas through a dynamic interaction, a physical back-and-forth dialogue in which perspective and orientation continuously change until all the elements are balanced right. This is the way he prefers to express himself.
