Lanterns

This deconstructed artwork is inspired by the annual Mid-autumn festival widely celebrated in Asia. This ancient festival dates back thousands of years and has evolved into a celebration of many traditions. Lanterns are no doubt one of the oldest traditions of the Mid-Autumn Festival. These lanterns often come in a variety of shapes and are symbols of good fortune. Adults and children on festival night, when the moon is at its brightest and fullest, will carry and display their colourful lanterns. Through this artwork, Paul hopes to share the joy of walking under these candle-lit lanterns as they dance and flicker in the night.
