Sorry for Laughing

Sorry for Laughing is a painting from Victor Castillo’s Pure Pleasure series about love. The original acrylic on canvas artwork was unveiled at the Zona Maco art fair in Mexico City in 2014, and it has since been featured in numerous publications including the book Sweet & Bizarre by Monsa Publications in Barcelona. Like most of his works, in the piece, the character has a long bright red nose, which is Victor’s signature creativity.

Los Angeles
Victor Castillo is a Chilean artist currently working and residing in Los Angeles, California. He started drawing obsessively at the very young age of five when he was inspired by the animations he saw on television, science fiction movies, and the illustrations on record covers such as Pink Floyd’s “The Wall.” After he finished his studies, he joined the independent experimental art collective Caja Negra in Santiago where he created multimedia installations. Later, he moved to Barcelona, Spain, where he dedicated himself to painting and established his style with references to comics, graffiti, and old master paintings, particularly Goya’s Black Paintings after seeing them at the Prado Museum. Finally, in 2010, after a solo exhibition in the United States, he moved to Los Angeles, California, where he lives and works. There is a short film about Victor's work called Hollywood Dreams, created by Loica and Barefoot Productions, which won the Gold Remi Award at the 52nd Annual WorldFest-Houston in 2018.
