Summer Madness

A simple distribution of forms, a non-narrative narration or a visual graffiti of leitmotifs – situations, still lives, or animated lives. Bending the rules of reason with doodles, scratches and graffiti, playing with colour and shapes –Monika is interested in movement versus static forms and the workings of lines and colours. she starts with a plan of repetitive forms and uses this framework to add to the composition. The paintings are built up in layers with opaque and transparent forms and tell non-figurative pictorial stories, aiming to guide the eye across the canvas like a choreographed dance.
